NIKE PG1 "THE SHINING"
In bringing Paul George up the signature sneaker level, Nike decided to revamp his logo. George's debut sig model, the Nike PG1, features a bowtie-shaped mark on the tongue that the brand says serves as "a reminder of his unique blend of simplicity and sophistication." The example of this offered is that while George drives a Ferrari, he keeps a fishing rod in the backseat for impromptu angling. His love of fishing is also referenced on the shoe, which has a scaly traction pattern on bottom, If you've spotted the numbers on the heels of Paul George's first signature sneaker, the Nike PG1, and wondered what they meant, you're not alone. Heading into the release, Nike has revealed the keys to this code. The first three digits, 661, honor the area code of George’s hometown of Palmdale, California. Next up is the number 90 to represent the year George was born. Last in the first set of numbers is 317, referring to the area code of his home arena, Bankers Life Fieldhouse. But the final set of numbers is where things get the most interesting. In a first for Nike Basketball, each of the 12,000 pairs have been individually numbered, meaning that no two pairs will be the same. And while we’ll undoubtedly see many more colorways of the PG1, “The Shining” edition will be the only colorway to feature this individual code.
