If you never knew there was such thing as an Air Jordan 9 Retro "Space Jam," you'd be forgiven. The white/black/red colorway wasn't known as that when it originally launched in 1994. (Not a surprise since the movie had yet to release.) It also wasn't known as that when it first retroed in 2002, nor in 2008 along with the Air Jordan 14 as a Countdown Pack. And it still wasn't called that when it most recently retroed in 2010. The shoe did appear in the movie Space Jam though, so Jordan Brand will take advantage of that connection by attaching the name to the shoe for its 2016 retro. And since this particular OG colorway of the Air Jordan 9 has never had much of a memorable nickname, it's almost surprising that the popularity of the Air Jordan 11 Retro "Space Jam" 11 wasn't capitalized on sooner.
